Job Description The Opportunity This is a senior-level operational position designed for an experienced professional with strong technical expertise in both drinking water and wastewater treatment systems. We are seeking a versatile operator who can confidently oversee operations, troubleshooting, compliance, maintenance, and optimization activities across a variety of private water and wastewater facilities. Key Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain private water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, and collection systems Ensure facilities remain compliant with all applicable MECP regulations and approvals Monitor treatment processes and make operational adjustments to optimize performance Conduct compliance sampling, testing, inspections, and process monitoring Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process issues Complete operational records and regulatory reporting requirements Monitor and respond to SCADA alarms and notifications Participate in on-call coverage and emergency response activities Provide mentorship and technical support to junior operators Qualifications Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of progressive operational experience in both drinking water and wastewater systems Demonstrated experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and reporting requirements Experience with compliance monitoring, process control, laboratory interpretation, and operational reporting Strong mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude Excellent communication and organizational skills Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence Entry-level candidates with no prior operating experience will not be considered for this position. Required Certifications Valid Ontario Wastewater Operator Certification. Valid Ontario Drinking Water Operator Certification (OIT, LSW, Level I, or higher). LSW and OIT licences are acceptable for the water systems currently operated under this role. Aquatech places significant value on demonstrated operational experience in both water and wastewater systems.
