Essential Duties And Responsibilities Safely perform repairs and scheduled maintenance on reservoir vehicles, tractors, emergency generators, spill gate hoist equipment, pumps, and small motors. Report any equipment breakdowns or failures to management. Follow the procedures for the preventive maintenance required on all equipment. Keep all work areas within the maintenance building clean, neat, and safe. Perform all work and operation of vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner in accordance with established policies and procedures, complying with the GBRA Safety Manual. Assist with flood release operations, operate the monitoring system computer, retrieve data from remote monitoring sites, periodically be on call for emergency reservoir operation, and perform any other reservoir operation-related duties assigned by the Reservoir Manager. Operate computerized preventative maintenance and asset management software program. Work with outside contractors to complete reservoir-related projects. Assist the Recreation staff as directed in the completion of park operation, maintenance duties, and construction projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Operate a motor vehicle, riding mowers, shredders, and augers. Safely operate gas, electric, hydraulic, and hand tools/equipment with both hands. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups using oral, visual, and written means. Read and understand labels, Safety Data Sheets, and directions. Perform all aspects of sandblasting and painting operations. Ability to use welding and oxygen acetylene equipment. Possess a working knowledge of rigging and crane signals. Operate a boat with an outboard motor. Operate heavy equipment, including a backhoe and a bulldozer. Respond to visual and audible alarms. Read analog and digital indicators. Respond to callouts and emergency situations as needed with minimal delay. Perform basic and some advanced mathematics. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS Education High school diploma or GED. Certifications/Licenses Current valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under GBRA’s vehicle liability policy. Must have an acceptable M.V.R. TCEQ Class "D" Water Operator License or obtain within 6 months of employment. A Pesticide Applicator's License is desirable. Experience Background in basic park maintenance skills to include grounds maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs, and facility maintenance. Managerial Responsibilities No. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Standard physical activity, such as periodic standing, walking, sitting, and basic motor skills to operate necessary computer programs. Walk up to 2 miles over rough terrain, climb up and down vertical ladders and stairways up to 20 feet in length, repeatedly lift 50 pounds from various levels up to 4 feet vertically, and must be able to swim. Wear personal protective equipment, including a full-face respirator. Employees must take an annual Pulmonary Function Test and Fit Test for respirator usage. Employees will be required to take an annual hearing test. Perform basic first aid & CPR. Possess visual acuity to complete work in dark and dimly lit environments. Accurately interpret true colors. Employees must wear protective footwear in compliance with ANSI or ASTM standards. New employees are provided with footwear in compliance with the ANSI or ASTM standard. Replacement footwear is provided annually for qualifying employees. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Maintenance Crewman spends the majority of the workday outdoors performing job assignments. The Maintenance Crewman will be required to work outdoors during adverse weather conditions. Employees in this position are exposed to typical natural hazards such as poison ivy, wasps, and snakes. Salary Description $42,378.00 - $70,630.00
