Role Description This full-time, on-site Associate Lawyer (Litigation) role is based in Calgary, AB. The associate will manage a litigation file load from intake to resolution, including legal research, drafting pleadings, preparing motions and briefs, and appearing in court when required. Daily responsibilities include advising clients on legal issues, assessing case strategy and risk, negotiating settlements, and corresponding with opposing counsel and other parties. The lawyer will work closely with senior counsel on complex matters, attend client meetings, and participate in case conferences and mediations. The role also involves maintaining accurate file documentation, meeting procedural deadlines, and contributing to firm initiatives that improve client service and operational efficiency. Qualifications Experience providing clear, practical Legal Advice to clients, with sound judgment and ethical decision-making. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Effective Negotiation skills for settlements, mediations, and dispute resolution with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders. Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta or the ability to become called in Alberta. 1–5 years of litigation experience (civil, commercial, or personal injury experience considered an asset). Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting, argument preparation, and client communication. Portable practice is an asset but not a requirement.
