Responsibilities Tasks Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions Load and unload goods Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment Perform brake adjustments Perform emergency roadside repairs Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle Perform preventive maintenance Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo Transport and handle dangerous goods Experience and specialization Documentation knowledge Driver logbook Maintenance and repair reports Trip reports Type of trucking and equipment Flatbed Transportation/travel experience International Local Long-haul National Provincial/territorial

The driver is responsible for transporting cargo across local and international routes while optimizing fuel consumption via GPS. Duties include performing vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance, and ensuring the security of cargo through tarping.

Candidates must have a high school graduation certificate and experience in trucking, which is considered an asset. Knowledge of driver logbooks and experience with flatbed equipment is required.
