Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Designer based in Long Sault, ON. The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for creating technical drawings, conducting research and development, and utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with engineers, developing mechanical systems, and ensuring design specifications meet high-quality standards. Qualifications Diploma from a technical university/college in mechanical technology Knowledge and experience in Building Codes and ASHRAE Standards Proven experience using Revit and AutoCAD Knowledge of MS Office 365 Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong Verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Previous experience in the industrial or commercial sector is a plus Ability to coordinate with architectural, structural and electrical disciplines Roles and Responsibilities Prepare Detailed Mechanical Drawings: Develop accurate technical drawings and layouts for HVAC, plumbing, and other building mechanical systems using Revit and AutoCAD, in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes. Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other design disciplines (architectural, civil, structural, electrical) to ensure seamless coordination across all project components. Design Development: Assist in the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems for industrial, commercial, residential, and municipal buildings. Ensure systems are cost-effective, code-compliant, and energy-efficient. Conduct Technical Research: Support the engineering team by performing technical research related to mechanical systems, materials, equipment, and building code requirements including ASHRAE standards and Ontario Building Code. Site Investigations and Assessments: Participate in site visits to gather field data, verify existing conditions, and support the design development process. Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance: Ensure that all design deliverables meet quality standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. Support Project Delivery: Assist in the coordination and completion of construction administration tasks, such as responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and performing site reviews. Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, building technologies, and software tools to enhance design capabilities and maintain best practices.
