Practicum Placement

📌 We're taking practicum students for Fall 2026. Habitus Collective is looking for social work and social science students who need a field placement starting September, 2026. Over four months you'd be embedded in live research, evaluation, and strategy projects with community, nonprofit, and government clients. Literature reviews. Interviews and focus groups. Qualitative analysis. Tool development. Building the deliverables that clients actually use. ⭐SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY⭐ For the fall semester, Habitus has a special project in mind for practicum placement. This project is focused on knowledge mobilization with a post-secondary partner. In addition to other Habitus work, this placement will be focused on providing critical support with developing research summaries for different audiences, helping with recordings (online and in-person), and distributing this information through an extensive network. A few things we want to be clear about: ▸ You'll be on 1–2 projects at a time,▸ Weekly 1:1s with an assigned supervisor, feedback on your work, and a learning contract we build with you ▸ We check your workload every week to make sure you're being challenged, not just kept busy ▸ This is an unpaid academic placement for course credit 20-25 hrs/week · For this semester, we will also consider 100% remote placements, however some in-person availability in Calgary is preferred. · Sept–Dec 2026 Open to undergrad and graduate students in social work, sociology, public health, policy, community development, and related fields.
