HAMILTON URBAN CORE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE Strong Core Healthier Lives Job Type: Casual/ On-Call Position Type: On-Site Hiring Range: $24.00 - $27.78 per hour Position Description: Hamilton Urban Core provides a wide range of health and health related services and programs for individuals and families. We work with marginalized and vulnerable populations in the inner city, most of who are living in poverty and with chronic and complex health and social conditions. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness throughout all our facilities, both interior and exterior. This would include daily cleaning and disinfecting of washrooms, showers, meeting rooms, offices counselling rooms, lunchrooms and exam rooms. The custodian will be responsible for the exterior of the building as well, such as yard maintenance, window cleaning and garbage pickup. In the winter months, the custodian will ensure all walkways are cleared of snow and salted. Accountability: The Custodian role is a vital part of the Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre’s team and is accountable to the Senior Manager of People and Operations. The overall accountability is to the Executive Director. Key Responsibilities: * Operate power tools and ground maintenance equipment, drill, lawnmower, snowblower, industrial cleaners, etc. * Washing windows, interior walls and ceilings * Disposing of trash and emptying trash bins and other waste containers * Sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and waxing hallways, floors and stairwells * Cleaning snow and ice from walkways, parking areas and applying salt * Cutting grass and tending the grounds * Coordinating regular scheduled maintenance upkeep * Cleaning and disinfecting washrooms, showers and fixtures on a weekly schedule * Performing laundry duties as required * May require moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies * Maintaining stock of cleaning supplies, restocking paper and soap supplies and keeping the custodian supply room organized * Keeping a collection of all cleaning records and maintaining any necessary data/reporting for audits * Assists in on-the job training of new staff on routine procedures * Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Performance Targets: · TBD Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent * Ability to work with minimal supervision * Good at written and verbal communication skills to * Ability to perform repairs such as cleaning drains, water shut offs or toilet plunging * Ability to use hand tools and power tools * Comfortable operating cleaning equipment * Must be physically able to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs and hallways to conduct necessary inspections * knowledge of relevant legislation such as Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations including WHMIS legislation * Must have experience in commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance * Willing to work evenings and weekends Benefits: * HOOP Pension * On-site parking * Company Events * Employee Assistance Program Schedule: The successful candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends shifts, as required to meet operational needs. Maintain high levels of cleanliness and disinfection throughout the interior and exterior of the health centre facilities. Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal in winter and lawn care in summer, while managing cleaning supplies and records.

Requires a high school diploma and previous experience in commercial cleaning or facilities maintenance. Candidates must be physically capable of performing manual labor and have knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
