*Tandem Dump Truck Driver ? Heavy Civil Construction* *Haul the Material. Support the Crew. Keep Projects Moving.* Harbour Construction is looking for an experienced Tandem Dump Truck Driver to support our heavy civil construction projects across Nova Scotia. This is a full-time, field-based role for a professional driver who understands that every safe, timely load helps crews stay productive and projects stay on schedule. You will haul aggregates and construction materials between pits, plants, yards, and active project sites while working closely with Superintendents, Foremen, Operators, and field crews. Our work includes underground utilities, excavation, grading, site development, and municipal infrastructure. We are looking for a dependable driver who takes pride in their truck, completes inspections properly, communicates clearly, and can operate safely on both public roads and changing construction sites. *Keeping Projects Moving* *As our Tandem Dump Truck Driver, you will:* · Safely operate a tandem-axle dump truck on public roads, highways, haul routes, and active construction sites. · Transport aggregates, soil, gravel, asphalt, and other construction materials between pits, plants, yards, and project sites. · Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate inspection records, logbooks, and other required documentation. · Monitor truck condition and report maintenance, mechanical, or safety concerns promptly. · Load, haul, and dump materials safely while complying with weight restrictions, transportation regulations, site rules, and company procedures. · Confirm that loads are secure and distributed appropriately before travel. · Navigate active sites safely around excavations, equipment, ground personnel, traffic, and changing road or ground conditions. · Maintain clear communication with Superintendents, Foremen, Operators, and field crews regarding deliveries, routes, delays, and site logistics. · Coordinate positioning and dumping activities with equipment operators and ground personnel. · Keep the truck clean, orderly, and ready for work. · Represent Harbour Construction professionally when interacting with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and the public. *Built for the Road and the Site* *You will do well in this role if you:* · Put safety first and remain alert to changing road, weather, traffic, and jobsite conditions. · Take pride in professional driving practices, accurate inspections, clean equipment, and complete documentation. · Understand how timing, communication, and dependable hauling affect the productivity of the entire crew. · Can work independently, follow direction, and make sound decisions without constant supervision. · Communicate calmly and respectfully with dispatch, supervisors, operators, crews, suppliers, and the public. · Are dependable, punctual, and prepared to support changing operational needs. · Stay patient and professional during traffic delays, changing schedules, and busy site conditions. *What You?ll Need* *The successful candidate will bring*: · A valid Class 3 driver?s licence with the appropriate air-brake endorsement. A valid Class 1 licence is also welcome. · A clean driver?s abstract and a demonstrated record of safe, responsible commercial driving. · Previous tandem dump-truck experience, ideally in civil construction, aggregates, paving, excavation, roadwork, or heavy civil operations. · Knowledge of commercial-vehicle inspections, safe hauling and dumping practices, weight restrictions, and applicable transportation requirements. · The ability to operate safely around excavations, uneven terrain, traffic, heavy equipment, and ground personnel. · Strong situational awareness and the ability to recognize and respond to hazards and changing site conditions. · The physical ability to climb in and out of the truck, complete inspections, and occasionally handle tarps, tailgates, tools, chains, or other equipment
