Your New Company A well-established civil construction group in North Vancouver is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its finance team. Operating across multiple business units, the organization delivers complex civil construction projects throughout British Columbia. This is an opportunity to join a stable and growing BC-based business with a strong reputation in the construction market. Your New Role Overseeing general accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany transactions. Coordinating month-end and year-end close processes and ensuring reporting deadlines are achieved. Ensuring accurate revenue recognition, project cost reporting, and job costing across multiple construction projects. Reviewing payroll processing and payroll-related reconciliations within a unionized environment. Monitoring cash flow, working capital, collections, and project funding requirements. Supporting annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Preparing financial analysis and management reporting for senior leadership. Coordinating annual audit requirements and preparing supporting schedules and working papers. Developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Partnering with project managers to monitor project performance, labour costs, equipment utilization, forecasts, and financial risk. Interpreting collective agreements as they relate to payroll, labour costs, and project accounting. Identifying and implementing improvements to financial processes, systems, and reporting. Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals. What You’ll Need to Succeed A CPA designation. At least three years of experience leading or supervising accounting staff. Accounting experience within construction, heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, industrial, or another project-based environment. Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and construction financial reporting. Experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions. Working knowledge of collective agreements and union payroll administration. Experience supporting multiple entities or business units. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial analysis. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across finance, operations, project teams, and senior leadership. A valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation.
