Position #: 126057 Expected Start Date: October 05, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: Kindersley Health Centre City/Town: Kindersley Department: Public Health Nursing Type: Full-time temporary Expected Up to Date: September 28, 2027 FTE: 1 Shift Information: Days Number of Hours per Rotation: 224 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Field Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse B $42.040 to $52.440 Travel Required: Yes Job Description: The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team, provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care. This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make primary decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program, the SRNA Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, and other relevant legislation. Inherent in this role are knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, prevention, and protection. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, and other sectors and community groups. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience * Minimum of one (1) year Public Health Nursing experience is an asset. Education * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) * Course credits in community health and public health nursing are required Licenses * Valid Class 5 driver's license * Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certificate (BLS-HCP) Competencies * Basic - Communication skills * Basic - Interpersonal skills * Basic - Organizational skills * Basic - Computer skills * Basic - Decision making skills Knowledge and Abilities * Communicate effectively orally and written with clients of varying ages * Ability to communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds * Health Promotion strategies include building healthy public policy * Demonstrates skill in group education, individual counselling and advocacy * High level of accuracy in health assessment, nursing diagnosis and treatment. * Knowledge in community development * Ability to work collaboratively with team members and the community at large. * Negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills. * Ability to build and maintain relationships based on accountability. * Demonstrates flexibility by adjusting workload to accommodate client needs. * Establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships * Knowledge in health equity and impact of poverty and risk conditions on health * Ability to demonstrate initiative, independent judgment & organizational skills * Willingness to adhere to established Public Health policies and procedures. * Uses independent judgment based on evidence-based practice. * Ability to promote healthy lifestyles with diverse populations * Ability to assume responsibility and work independently * Knowledge of facilitation strategies * Ability to analyze health issues in the context of political & social climate Other Information * Travel required * For more information on the town of Kindersley please visit https://www.kindersley.ca/ * Kindersley is located approximately 200 km west of Saskatoon * Evening and weekend work may be required * May be eligible for Recruitment and/or Retention Incentives * Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
