REPORTING: Under the general direction of the Manager, Medical Imaging. DUTIES:1. Ensure the safe and appropriate operation of Angiography equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, hospital policy, college certification and legislative standards.2. Perform and record routine quality control, troubleshoot equipment and/or procedure issues and contact appropriate service providers to ensure optimal functionality. 3. Perform Angio Quality Control Procedures in the department.4. Obtain informed consent and verify patient history and information.5. Ensure demonstrated competency in intravenous (IV) catheter access. 6. Document patient medical histories, including any relevant information about previous imaging exams, allergies or surgeries.7. Coordinate daily work schedule, prioritize emergency and add on cases as required.8. Perform a full range of procedures in accordance radiation safety practices, applicable legislation, clinical standards, and departmental policies and procedures to ensure personnel and patient safety. 9. Adhere to the Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).10. Maintain competency in the Angiography examinations performed and equipment used within the department.11. Evaluate exams for quality and accuracy. 12. Maintain records and documentation according to department policy and procedures.13. Collaborate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare teams.14. Follow all infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment. 15. Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.16. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with healthcare privacy laws.17. Assist with student education, supervision and evaluations as required. 18. Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.19. Contribute to learner development by providing academic support, mentorship, preceptorship and supervision as required.20. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines. 21. Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.22. Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.23. Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND TRAINING: 1. Minimum of an Advanced Diploma in Radiography, from an accredited college. 2. Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the CMRITO is required.3. Current Certificate of Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is preferred.4. Successful completion of CAMRT Interventional Radiology Certificate program is preferred. 5. Contrast Injection Course Certification is required.6. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required. EXPERIENCE: 1. Recent and relevant full scope working experience in a hospital setting is preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 1. Demonstrated knowledge of operating Angiography equipment with strong problem solving skills and ability to handle equipment related challenges.2. Demonstrated knowledge of positioning protocols and standards, with strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high quality images. 3. Demonstrated ability to perform all Angiography procedures.4. Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control Practices.5. Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety, protocols and protection regulations. 6. Demonstrated ability to mentor students and support personnel.7. Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in general health care and community resources.8. Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement. 9. Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.10. Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information system.11. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. 12. Demonstrated effective time management and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload as required.13. Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.14. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients. PERSONAL SUITABILITY: 1.
