The Production Team Leader is responsible for production throughput, maintenance, quality, safety, training and continuous improvement within our production area. Supports process improvements and Manufacturing Excellence initiatives. Ensure only quality product is delivered to internal and external customers on time Essential Functions Effectively lead, supervise, motivate and provide support to a team of employees within any of the production departments. Coach and counsel employees Respond to employee concerns Administer company rules and the collective agreement Execute the established quality procedures and programs as required with regards to production throughput, quality, safety, training, housekeeping and continuous improvement, maintenance and teamwork Ensure compliance of the quality system elements in your area of supervision Communicate the structure of the QOS to employees (MOS) Follow-up on corrective actions that result from internal audits Train employees on the quality policy and applicable elements Establish and maintain a safe, clean and healthy workplace Ensure that proper preventive investigative and follow-up procedures are used to reduce the risk of injury and/or accident Monitor and test all safety equipment to ensure it is in place and operating as designed Investigate and report accidents and incidents within 24 hours. Recommend and implement corrective actions Complete monthly safety talks to 100% employee attendance Participate in Manufacturing Excellence initiatives Develop systems to encourage employees to identify and assist in implementing Actively supports cost reduction programs through participation on kaizen teams in Heat Treat, Stress Peen, Taper Roll, Eye Form, and Assembly departments Maintain accurate records and organize the workforce to best achieve the desired results Ensure that equipment is maintained and that PM’s are completed Perform other related duties as required Achieve MOS Audit scores of 90% or better Support Area Manager in all requests Produce accurate and timely data for information processing Education and Training 3-5 years manufacturing experience in the automotive/truck industry or metal working industry in a unionized environment Familiar with Microsoft Office software (strong Excel skills) Minimum Qualifications Excellent leadership, organization, analytical and communication skills Sound judgment in decision making and establishing priorities Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures
