Job Title: Metal Worker (MIG Welder) Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent (On-site) Pay Rate: $23.00 CAD per hour Location: Waterloo, ON, Canada Benefits Dental care & Extended health care RRSP match Casual dress On-site parking Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Metal Worker (MIG Welder) for our custom hollow metal door fabrication shop in Waterloo, ON. Working in a clean, air-conditioned, and well-lit environment, you will prepare, weld, and finish custom doors, frames, and architectural hardware. This is a custom shop setting where craftsmanship, precision, and quality matter—not an assembly line. Key Responsibilities Prep doors for lites, louvres, locks, and exit devices using technical specifications, templates, and shop drawings. Prep door frames for anchors, electric strikes, power transfers, and deadbolts. Perform basic MIG welding (hand tack, flat welding, channels, door edge seams, and hardware tabs on light-gauge steel). Grind and finish frame welds to exact quality standards. Install lite kits and glaze metal windows using tempered, thermal, and fire-rated glass. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, band saws, jig saws, and chop saws. Receive, stock, and rack doors, frames, and hardware; load/unload trucks for pickup and delivery. Assist with inventory monitoring and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Prior experience in metal manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly. 2 years of hands-on MIG welding experience is preferred. Tool & Equipment Skills: Proficient with air/hand tools, band saws, jig saws, chop saws, and precision layout work. Technical Skills: Ability to read shop drawings, follow templates, and work seamlessly with both imperial and metric measurements. Physical Demands: Physically fit and capable of handling up to 100 lb steel doors, as well as loading/unloading materials. Attributes: High attention to craftsmanship, safety-conscious, reliable, and a strong team player. Local candidates preferred.
