Industrial Electrician Blue Mountain Plastics Recycling – Shelburne, ON $37.00–$44.00/hour 12-Hour Rotating Continental Shifts Position Summary Blue Mountain Plastics Recycling, part of Ice River Sustainable Solutions, is looking for an Industrial Electrician to join our Maintenance team in Shelburne, Ontario. This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting a highly automated manufacturing environment with specialized and custom equipment. The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electrical and electromechanical systems while also supporting preventative maintenance, equipment improvements and plant projects. We are looking for someone with a strong electrical foundation who is comfortable working as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team. While electrical troubleshooting will be a key focus of the position, our technicians also assist with mechanical maintenance as required to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. We are open to considering both licensed electricians and registered 3rd/4th year electrical apprentices with relevant experience and a strong interest in developing their industrial maintenance skills. Troubleshoot sensors, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo motors and controllers, PLC input/output cards, safety modules and other electrical components. Work with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial communication systems including Ethernet, AS-i Bus and PROFIBUS. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize production downtime. Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, logic, process flow and instrumentation schematics. Work with equipment manufacturers and technical support teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex machine and process issues. Support equipment installations, upgrades, modifications and continuous improvement projects. Assist with mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance, including equipment such as motors, conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Support equipment setup, changeovers and troubleshooting and assist operators and other technicians in developing their technical knowledge. Identify recurring equipment issues and work with the Maintenance and Operations teams to develop long-term solutions. Participate in equipment audits, rebuilds, annual overhauls and planned maintenance activities. Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and proactively identify safety, quality, waste, reliability and efficiency concerns. Follow all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements, and maintain a clean and safe working environment. Continue developing technical skills through training and hands-on experience. What We're Looking For 442A Industrial Electrician or 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician licence preferred. Registered electrical apprentices with relevant experience will also be considered. Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, automation or similar environment is an asset. Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery, VFDs, motors, sensors and industrial electrical systems is strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings and technical documentation. Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform mechanical maintenance as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment. Strong commitment to workplace safety, equipment reliability and continuous improvement. Willing and able to work 12-hour continental shifts. Working Environment & Physical Demands This position works in an active manufacturing environment and requires regular time on the production floor. The successful candidate must be comfortable with: Standing and walking for extended periods. Crouching, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting and carrying as required. Working around industrial machinery, noise and vibration. Working at heights or in confined spaces when required. Conditions that may occasionally be wet, slippery, dusty, humid or noisy. Wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection and other plant-specific protective equipment.
