Electrical Drafter

Job Description ELECTRICAL DRAFTER GENERAL INFORMATION BASIC FUNCTION The Electrical Drafter is responsible draft multiple Substation and Distribution projects in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for the accuracy, quality, and constructability of drawings for electrical utility projects of all sizes. Effective collaboration and communication with multiple internal and external stakeholders are required by the Electrical Drafter to progress draft through all project stages. The Drafter is responsible for handover of high-quality design packages on schedule, while ensuring that all drawings are prepared in accordance with the company standards and meet the project scope. QUALIFICATIONS Education * A Diploma in Engineering Design Technology, or; * Related certificates in either AutoCAD or MicroStation Experience * 2-4 years of experience working in an electrical engineering environment, with experience in Substation and Distribution projects. * Efficient in using MicroStation and AutoCAD software Skills * Advanced abilities in MicroStation V8i and knowledge of MicroStation CONNECT Edition would be an asset. * Ability to understand client specific requirements (standards and specifications) and applicable codes & regulations for preparing electrical packages. * Ability to prepare engineering drawings from sketches and general engineering information according to established standards and procedures. * Superior ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task. * Capacity to resolve complex issues in a timely manner. * Ability to build relationships with clients, consultants, approval authorities and utility representatives. DUTIES Estimating, Drafting and Project Management * Identify any drafting opportunities available. * Create company drafting standards and drafting resource library. * Ensure all drawings are prepared in accordance with the company standards and meet the project scope and budget. * Provide suggestions to increase productivity by setting up internal templates, procedures, and automations. * Review and reference customer drawings for review and creation of design drawings. * Create full engineering design packages for entire project lifecycle. * Ability to accurately estimate resource requirements for projects. * Collaborate professionally with other team members to ensure project success. * Ensuring all Iconic designs are accurate and are delivered on time and have superior quality. * Maintaining relationships with customers, consultants, and design approvers. * Utilize MicroStation drafting software’s to prepare drawings from conceptual stage through to project completion. * Preparation of Electrical drafting packages consisting of Single Line, logics, schematics, wiring, Site Plan, Electrical Plan & Sections, Grounding Plan & Details, Conduit Plan & Details. * Other duties as required. RESPONSIBILITIES * Ensuring all Iconic designs are accurate and are delivered on time and have superior quality. * Maintaining relationships with customers, consultants, and design approvers. The Electrical Drafter is responsible for creating accurate, high-quality engineering design packages for substation and distribution projects. They must collaborate with stakeholders to ensure all drawings meet company standards, project scope, and deadlines.

Candidates must have a diploma in Engineering Design Technology or related certificates in AutoCAD or MicroStation. A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an electrical engineering environment is required.
