Our client is a well-established Canadian commercial P&C insurer with a strong broker network and a reputation for delivering smart, practical underwriting solutions. They’re adding an experienced Commercial Underwriting Specialist to help grow and manage a profitable mid-market portfolio in Ontario. Compensation $115,000 to $140,000 or more depending on relevant experience Benefits & Perks Performance based bonus Retirement savings/pension plan Generous benefits coverage Lot of opportunity for long-term growth internally Hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in office) Responsibilities Manage and grow a profitable commercial P&C portfolio (new business, renewals, endorsements) Maintain and deepen broker relationships through regular engagement, including broker visits/meetings Negotiate coverage and pricing, ensuring alignment with underwriting appetite and profitability goals Use portfolio metrics to support decision-making and performance management Complete required documentation and participate in underwriting audits as needed Contribute to a strong team environment and mentor/coach junior colleagues Qualifications 8-10+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience in a carrier setting (mid-market exposure strongly preferred) Hands-on underwriting expertise in Construction & Manufacturing is preferred Demonstrated ability to build trusted broker relationships (broker-facing experience preferred) Strong analytical/portfolio mindset and comfort working with performance metrics Confident communicator with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach CIP designation is an asset (or working toward it) At Aplin — together with our brands CompuStaff, Impact Recruitment, and Vantix Systems — we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
