POSITION OVERVIEW The Community Support Worker – Community Inclusion provides individualized, 1:1 community‑based support to persons with developmental disabilities. This is a position, requiring flexibility to work across multiple sites, and service locations based on operational needs and service coverage requirements. This role focuses on promoting independence, skill development, and meaningful community participation using person centered and strength based approaches. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality supports by assisting with the implementation and ongoing review of personalized plans, promoting health and safety, and supporting access to community-based opportunities. Through your work, you will help create an environment where individuals are empowered, respected and supported to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in potentially high‑stress environments and apply positive behavioural support strategies and evidence‑based behavioural management principles to support safety, emotional regulation, and positive outcomes. High levels of personal care required, assistance with health meal planning based on the diabetic guidelines, attention to detailed guidelines and data collection, strong organizational skills and ability to work with high behaviours and stressful situations. High level of professional engagement with external support and family. Key Responsibilities: * Provide 1:1 community‑based supports aligned with individual service plans. * Support participation in community, social, and recreational activities. * Implement positive behavioural support and behaviour management strategies. * Respond appropriately to challenging situations while maintaining safety and professionalism. * Complete required documentation and follow organizational policies. QUALIFICATIONS * Diploma in Community Social Services or a related field; A combination of experience and education will be considered. * Minimum one year of direct support experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with complex medical or behavioural needs. * Strong understanding of community inclusion, person‑centered practices, and positive behaviour support strategies (training in behavioural intervention is an asset). * Experience supporting individuals in community‑based settings is an asset. * Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills. * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. * Ability to remain professional, compassionate, and calm in high‑stress situations. * Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Ability to follow prescribed lifting, transferring, and behaviour support techniques. * Flexibility to work varied shifts based on individual needs. ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION * This role is designated for male applicants only, in accordance with bona fide occupational requirements, due to the provision of 1:1 personal care support for a male supported individual with complex needs. * The service is co‑managed collaboratively by the individual’s family and organizational leadership. * The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in potentially high‑stress environments, applying Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and evidence‑based behavioural management practices to promote skill development, independence, and meaningful participation in the community. * Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with supported individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members. * Flexibility in scheduling is required, including the ability to transition between individuals and other Community Inclusion services as operational needs evolve. * Evenings and weekends may be a requirement for this position. Requires a Diploma in Community Social Services or related field and at least one year of direct support experience with individuals with developmental disabilities. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License, Intermediate First Aid, and MANDT certification.
