We’re seeking a Maintenance Manager (Innocon) who’s ready to be part of a people-first company with a strong reputation for delivering consistent quality, service excellence, and innovative ready-mix concrete solutions across the GTA. ABOUT THE ROLE The Maintenance Manager (MM) has direct control of the plant maintenance program at Innocon including, safety, budget control, planning, and coordination with the Operations Manager and the operations team. The MM also has shared responsibility for the safety, environment, operations, sales, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, employee relations, plant’s image and community relations at all Innocon locations with members of the Operations team. The MM is an operations professional who understands the value of planning and processes and takes a disciplined approach to execution, while working closely and effectively with safety, environment, sales, credit, and customer service, performance, finance and HR personnel. WHAT THEY’LL ACCOMPLISH Health and Safety: The MM is responsible for implementation and compliance of Innocon Safety Program to ensure personnel are working in a safe manner in accordance with policies and procedures. The MM ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner and obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and Innocon operations. The incumbent ensures that employees, equipment and processes meet or exceed the OSHA and Innocon guidelines, standards and advisories and pursues a culture of safety that is best in class with an objective of “zero” injuries or incidents by actively engaging with the employees to reinforce safe behaviors. Environment, Plant Image, and Community Relations: The MM establishes environmental policies and processes as a priority at the site. Recognizes environmental compliance as a priority at the site. The role ensures regulations are met or exceeded by following Innocon best practices. The incumbent maintains all plants in accordance with stated guidelines for plant image. Plant image includes housekeeping, parts storage, vehicles and equipment condition (cleanliness and appearance), entrance & property, and buildings. The employee works proactively with the local community to ensure that Innocon is a valued member of the community. Activities include organization of open houses and participation with local schools and non-profit organizations. The incumbent participates in industry associations as a representative of Innocon. The role promotes Innocon’s interests and communicates in a manner which upholds Innocon as a good corporate citizen. Represent the company in internal and external activities and events. Operations Strategy & Planning: The MM provides direct oversight in the processing, storage, and shipping of concrete at the plant directly responsible. The MM embraces best practices, processes and tools to ensure plant activities are optimized and costs are best in class. The employee effectively utilizes Innocon’s maintenance programs to maximize plant up-time and manage costs and understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers. The MM must support annual revenue targets by actively managing customer relations along with sales reps in the designated market. The incumbent conducts research and analysis appropriate for the establishment of the annual budget and management of raw materials to ensure a balance between cost optimization and meeting customer needs. Operations Analysis and Action Tracking: The MM effectively utilizes KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans and continuously improve the operations. Uses available reports effectively to measure quality, identify variances and establish corrective action. Labour Relations & Performance Management: The MM leads all direct reports to achieve success. The employee is responsible for effective recruitment, merit/recognition, development, disciplinary actions and terminations on site. The incumbent participates in union negotiations (where applicable) and fosters effective employee relations. Establishes a safe and productive work environment where employees are proud to represent Innocon and promotes a culture of performance. Quality and Commercial Support: The MM is accountable for customer services out of the plant and collaborate with Sales Managers/Reps and VAP Specialists to accomplish goals. The MM interacts with customers in order to strengthen the business relationship and to insure that expectations for quality and quantity of material are met. The PM Understands the value of quality and ensures processes are in place to provide a quality product to our customers, utilizing best practices of production and delivery. Planning & Inventory Management: The MM develops operational plans for the plant to continuously improve productivity and maintain costs as low or lower than our competition. Prepares budgets and forecasts. Closely manages inventory requirements at the site through frequent coordination with the suppliers, performance and accounting. Investment Capital: The MM works with Operations Manager and Manufacturing team to identify necessary sustaining and development capital according to Innocon best practices. Assists in preparing CERs (Capital Expenditure Requests) and executes the installation/construction of projects as required. Plant Maintenance: The MM oversees plant maintenance costs and ensures best practices are being followed at all plants. The role develops expertise in all plant systems such as Control systems (batch systems), Air Systems (air compressors, cylinders, valves), Material Handling Systems (conveyors/scales/bins etc.), Heating Systems (boilers, water heaters, etc), Water Systems (water storage, plumbing, weighing etc.), and Electrical Systems (control panels, etc). The incumbent must assist with Market CAPEX requirements and budgets and must also ensure manufacturing efficiency, such as that plants are manufacturing accurately at peak efficiencies. Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Education: Undergraduate degree preferred in construction management, engineering, or business Required Work Experience: 5+ years of related experience Required Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Google Suite Additional Requirements: Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers Must be flexible and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines Possess a general knowledge of construction and A&C products and a solid understanding of the market, competition and business opportunities Excellent leadership skills - must be able to motivate others and provide complete, direct and actionable feedback Possess a commitment to and willingness to devote great effort and time in order to reach goals Ability to make decision is a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete data and under tight deadlines and pressure Strong planning, problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
