Insomnia Cookies started as a big dream in a tiny university dorm room in the US city of Philadelphia, amongst a group of friends, up late, craving something sweet and delicious. With very limited takeout options available (this was back in 2003!), our founder, Seth, took matter into his own hands. Fast forward 20 years and so... many... cookies later, Insomnia Cookies has become a cult brand known for its rabid following of cookie lovers who crave warm, delicious delivery all day and late into the night. We’re now very excited to bring our late-night favorites to Ontario and we are actively interviewing candidates for the COOKIE CREW role at our Canadian flagship store adjacent to Queens University! WHAT DO I DO AS A COOKIE CREW MEMBER? Promptly greet guests entering the store and take their orders according to procedure Help customers understand menu items, answer clarifying questions, and repeat orders for accuracy Give each customer a warm experience with a smile in person & over the phone Bake our delicious cookies to perfection & a scoop of ice cream Ensure fast, warm, and correct delivery orders are packaged and sent out Handle cash and payments accurately and have no shortages or overages Cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the bakery WHAT WE LOOK FOR: Prior experience in a customer service focused role - preferred Personable, genuine, outgoing demeanor Ambitious nature Great communication and organizational skills Must be 18 years or older to be employed Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays At Insomnia Cookies, warm cookies are just the beginning. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Every shift is a little different, but you can expect to: Welcome every guest with genuine hospitality and make every interaction memorable Prepare, bake, and package our warm cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other treats to Insomnia's quality standards Accurately prepare in-store, pickup, delivery, and online orders Operate the register and process guest transactions Keep the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe throughout every shift Jump in wherever your team needs you, whether that's restocking supplies, helping a teammate, or keeping the line moving Resolve guest concerns with empathy and urgency, partnering with your Shift Leader when needed Deliver the kind of experience that turns first-time guests into lifelong Insomniacs Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to obtain any required food safety certifications applicable to the location Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation Physical Requirements This position regularly requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift) Frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds regularly Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance Use hands and fingers to handle bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system Work in environments with varying temperatures, including around ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units Safely operate kitchen equipment in accordance with company procedures Read order screens, recipes, and safety information Communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment Work Environment This position works in a fast-paced bakery environment that includes frequent interaction with guests, exposure to heat from ovens, refrigerated storage areas, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise levels. Evening, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts are a regular part of the business. Schedule Expectations Our bakeries are busiest during evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Prior customer service experience is preferred, along with the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
