Détails du poste
About Executive Millwork For 40+ years, Executive Millwork has been Western Canada's premier commercial millwork shop. We deliver custom architectural woodwork on commercial and high-end residential projects — hospitality, public spaces, and complex builds — and we've earned a reputation for craftsmanship, reliability, and a team that sticks around. The Role We're hiring a Shop Foreman to take charge of our manufacturing floor. This is not a caretaker role — you'll own the entire shop, from the machine bay through custom casework and finishing, and be directly accountable to the owners for how it runs. Our shop is big, busy, and complex: many stations, multiple CNC machines, a full paint and finishing booth, and 25–30 people across equipment operators, cabinetmakers, finishers, apprentices, and shippers. Multiple projects run at once and millwork is unforgiving of missed details. We need someone who understands manufacturing flow, sees the bottlenecks before they bite, and fixes problems rather than waiting for direction. What you'll do • Run the shop floor day to day: plan and schedule work orders, set daily priorities for each area, and assign work to the right people at the right skill level • Own the flow of work from the machine bay through cabinetmaking to finishing and shipping — keep it moving, minimize work in progress, and manage actual vs. estimated completion times • Lead, train, and support a crew of 25–30, including performance reviews, attendance and conduct, cross-training, and helping recruit and onboard new shop staff • Review shop drawings critically, and work with the Operations Manager, Estimators, and PMs to understand project scope and anything that could impact manufacturing or install • Prepare mock-ups and set up point-of-process quality control so finished product meets shop drawings and customer standards before it leaves for site • Coordinate with Site Supervisors and Site Leads so deliveries are complete and on time • Track shop material inventory — in stock, required, used, and replaced • Coordinate equipment and tool sign-out, repairs, replacements, and scheduled maintenance • Champion Lean: keep the shop and yard organized (6S), help develop SOPs, and drive continuous improvement while balancing production demands • Take a leadership role in health and safety — sit on the H&S Committee, run shop safety audits and inspections, and enforce PPE and hazard reporting practices • Participate in production, management, toolbox, and project kick-off and wrap-up meetings' Nice to have • Journeyman Cabinetmaker or related trade certification • LEAN or continuous improvement training • Experience with ERP or shop-floor scheduling systems A few notes on the role • Reports to the Operations Manager; directly responsible for 25–30 shop personnel • Entrepreneurial, owner-led environment — lots of autonomy, not a lot of hand-holding • Open to out-of-province candidates for the right fit What we offer • Competitive base, with room to go higher for a proven leader, commensurate with experience • Comprehensive health and dental benefits • Direct access to ownership and a real say in how the shop runs • 40+ years of stability behind you • Beer Fridays, Stampede BBQs, Christmas parties — a team that likes to spend time with each other Requirements • Proven experience running a production floor as a Shop Foreman, Production Manager, or similar — ideally in a woodworking, millwork, or cabinet manufacturing environment, though what matters most is that you've managed a complex, multi-station manufacturing flow • A real understanding of manufacturing flow and theory of constraints: you can spot bottlenecks, sequence work, and explain why a shop is or isn't running well • Hands-on knowledge of casework and box building, so you can talk shop with cabinetmakers and weigh in on the best techniques on the bench • Familiarity with CNC machining and how the machine bay feeds custom work downstream • High EQ and a pleasant, steady demeanour under pressure — you handle conflict directly and respectfully, and get the best out of machine technicians and cabinetmakers alike • Strong critical thinking and problem solving: you question the status quo and bring innovative, practical fixes • An owner's mindset: you take accountability for the whole shop and act without waiting to be told
