If you are trained and experienced in acute/adolescent mental health, this is the opportunity for you! This is a Relief Full Time opportunity until April 3, 2028, or return of the incumbent. Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours. About this Location The Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at KGH is a tertiary mental health, psychiatric unit for youth between ages 12 to 17 years old. The Interior Health Adolescent Psychiatry Unit provides a youth-friendly, safe and secure environment with an average length 7 to 21 day stays. There are 8 beds staffed with a multidisciplinary team offering psycho-educational programming. A Collaborative problem solving philosophy and model of practice is utilized. Daily programming includes therapy groups, recreational and leisure time and creative projects. A unit classroom staffed by a certified teacher will help students maintain their coursework and create an education plan for their return to their community school. Programming provides an opportunity for a whole-life assessment creating the basis for treatment planning. Interior Health has embarked on an expansion plan to meet increasing demands, expand health services, and enhance patient care in the Okanagan. Construction of the six-storey, Centennial Patient Care Tower was completed in May 2012. It includes an expanded emergency department and ambulatory care department, five new operating rooms, a rooftop helipad, an expanded adult inpatient psychiatric unit, and extra space for more patient beds in the future.
