Licensed Optician / Optical Manager – Burlington, Ontario Iris & Oak is looking for an experienced, motivated Licensed Optician to join our new boutique optical location in Burlington. We are not looking for someone who simply wants to dispense glasses. We are looking for an all-rounder who wants to help build, operate and grow a boutique business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced optician who enjoys working independently, taking ownership and eventually functioning as a key manager within the practice. What we're looking for Registered/Licensed Optician in good standing in Ontario Strong dispensing and optical knowledge Confident with frame and lens selection Accurate measurements, adjustments, repairs and troubleshooting Experience with progressive, multifocal and specialty lenses Comfortable dealing with labs, suppliers and insurance Excellent customer service and sales ability Organized and capable of managing day-to-day optical operations Comfortable helping with inventory, frame buying and merchandising Able to work independently without constant supervision Interested in helping develop systems, processes and workflow Someone who treats the business like their own and wants to see it grow The role You will be involved in much more than dispensing. Depending on experience, responsibilities may include: Managing the optical floor Patient/customer consultations Frame and lens sales Measurements, fitting and dispensing Lab orders and troubleshooting Insurance submissions Inventory management Frame purchasing and vendor relationships Merchandising and displays Helping train future staff Working alongside independent Optometrists Helping improve sales, customer experience and overall operations Eventually taking on greater management responsibility as the business grows What we offer New independent boutique optical environment Opportunity to help shape the business from the beginning Significant autonomy and responsibility Competitive hourly compensation based on experience Potential performance incentives Opportunity to grow into a Lead Optician / Optical Manager position Long-term opportunity for the right person Location: Burlington, Ontario Start: September/October 2026 Position: Full-time preferred; strong part-time candidates may also be considered If you're an experienced optician who wants more responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to help build a growing independent optical business, we'd like to hear from you.
