Position: Senior Java Backend Developer Location: Toronto ON Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications using Java 8+ and Spring Boot. Build scalable REST APIs and Microservices for distributed enterprise systems. Develop and maintain event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka and Message Queues (MQ). Apply functional programming concepts such as Streams, Lambdas, Optional, and immutability to write clean, efficient code. Design, optimize, and manage data models in MongoDB ensuring performance and scalability. Participate in system design and architectural discussions, providing technical solutions and recommendations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Frontend, DevOps, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions. Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to best engineering practices. Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely root-cause analysis and resolutions. Monitor and optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and security. Strong understanding of Core Java, Spring Framework, Distributed Systems, and Event-Driven Architecture is mandatory. Good to have: Front-end development experience (React/Angular/JavaScript) and exposure to modern cloud-native environments. About Iris Software Inc. The Senior Java Backend Developer will design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications using Java and Spring Boot, while building scalable REST APIs and Microservices.
