Role Description This full-time Optician role is an on-site position located in Montreal, QC. The Optician will advise patients on lens options, frames, and coatings, ensuring that eyewear meets prescription requirements and lifestyle needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, taking measurements, fitting and adjusting eyeglasses, and supporting contact lens dispensing in collaboration with Optometrists and other eye care professionals. The role also involves educating patients about lens technologies, maintaining a high standard of customer service, and contributing to overall clinic operations, including follow-up care and product selection. The Optician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, helping deliver an exceptional and consistent IRIS experience. Qualifications Strong technical skills in optics and a solid understanding of lens designs, materials, and frame adjustments. Experience working alongside Optometrists or within an optometry setting to support eye exams and eyewear prescriptions. Proven commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction, with the ability to provide clear, empathetic guidance to patients. Knowledge of basic eye exam procedures and the ability to explain results and recommendations in a patient-friendly manner. Relevant Optician certification or licensure in Quebec, or eligibility to obtain it, and prior experience in a retail or clinical eye care environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Attention to detail, accuracy in measurements and record-keeping, and comfort using practice management or optical software. Ability to stand for long periods, perform fine manual adjustments, and adapt to a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
