Your impact Jacobs is seeking an Air Quality Monitoring Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and reporting activities for a network of ambient air quality and meteorological monitoring stations throughout Lambton County. This role offers an opportunity to develop technical expertise in environmental monitoring, data management, regulatory compliance, and field operations while contributing to projects that help improve environmental performance and community health. Working closely with engineers, scientists, and project managers, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of specialized monitoring equipment. You will collect, manage, and validate environmental data, prepare technical documentation, and support environmental monitoring programs in accordance with established quality and safety standards. This position is primarily field-based and requires regular travel to monitoring locations, with occasional overtime and after-hours support as needed to meet operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Operate, install, calibrate, and maintain ambient air quality and meteorological monitoring equipment. Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine repairs on analyzers, sensors, data loggers, telemetry systems, and related equipment. Collect, validate, audit, and manage environmental monitoring data using specialized software and Microsoft Office applications. Prepare field reports, inspection records, and technical documentation in accordance with quality management systems and project requirements. Conduct fieldwork safely in a variety of weather conditions and industrial environments. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams regarding technical findings, equipment performance, and monitoring results. Maintain a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship. Here's what you'll need Minimum 1 year of related technical, environmental monitoring, field technician, industrial, or instrumentation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience operating, maintaining, calibrating, or troubleshooting technical instrumentation, monitoring equipment, or industrial control systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and industrial environments. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection when necessary. Ideally, You'll Also Have Diploma in Environmental Technology, Environmental Sciences, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline. Experience with ambient air quality monitoring programs. Experience supporting environmental compliance and regulatory reporting programs. Familiarity with provincial, federal, and local air quality regulations and regulatory processes. Experience implementing quality assurance/quality control procedures and quality management systems. Experience developing, reviewing, or implementing work plans and quality assurance project plans. Experience using telemetry systems, GPS, environmental databases, or specialized data management software. Experience performing equipment setup, installation, maintenance, and minor repairs in a field environment. Posted Salary Range Minimum 56,300.00 Posted Salary Range Upper 98,400.00 The base salary range for this position is $56,300.00 to $98,400.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
