GENERAL DESCRIPTION We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Manager to lead and oversee the financial operations of our organization. The Financial Manager will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and cash flow management while supporting executive decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management within a product development and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with business acumen and thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth clean-tech environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management. Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling to support strategic objectives Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to senior management. Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure planning to ensure financial stability and scalability. Review and analyze product costs, subcontractor expenses, overhead allocations, and COGS to ensure cost control and margin optimization. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, analyze variances, and provide clear explanations and actionable recommendations. Develop and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Support executive leadership with financial insights to guide business decisions, pricing strategies, and investment planning. Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and government reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and applicable regulatory frameworks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales to align financial planning with operational goals. Lead process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance financial efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Mentor and support accounting staff as the finance function grows. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management roles. Experience in manufacturing, hi-tech, or electronics industry preferred. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting. Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems with hands-on experience in Microsoft Business Central or Microsoft Dynamics is required Professional accounting designation (CPA) strongly preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. High level of integrity and professionalism with the ability to handle confidential financial information. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis is an asset.
