Company Information JDRF Electromag Engineering Inc. is a research-intensive product development company located in Port Credit, Mississauga, Ontario. Our mission is to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by making advanced smart lighting affordable and accessible for commercial buildings. We develop smart lighting technology that combines machine learning, edge computing, and data fusion to transform how commercial lighting systems are designed, commissioned, operated, and maintained. Role Overview Responsible for leading manufacturing engineering and production quality control activities, including review, validation, and approval of manufacturing processes, work instructions, test fixtures, manufacturing documentation, inspection criteria, and in-process quality controls. The role also supports NPI transfer, yield improvement, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and technical support for contract manufacturing partners. Key Responsibilities1. Supplier Quality Engineering Define, implement, and enforce quality standards across outsourced manufacturing partners. Lead supplier manufacturing process qualification, validation, and ongoing production quality control. Review, validate, and approve manufacturing processes, work instructions, test fixtures, inspection criteria, and in-process quality controls. Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions for supplier quality issues. Track and improve supplier quality KPIs, including yield, defects, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery. 2. Configuration and Change Management Own execution of engineering changes across outsourced manufacturing partners. Manage Engineering Change Orders, Engineering Change Notifications, and related supplier implementation activities. Ensure engineering revisions are properly communicated, implemented, and verified at the supplier level. Maintain revision integrity across BOMs, drawings, specifications, work instructions, test procedures, and supplier documentation. Prevent unauthorized substitution, undocumented process changes, and uncontrolled revision use. 3. Product Lifecycle Management Manage product data, revisions, releases, and manufacturing documentation through PLM systems. Ensure structured and controlled release of engineering data to manufacturing partners. Maintain traceability of product changes across development, NPI, production, and sustaining stages. Support alignment between PLM records, released BOMs, supplier documentation, and production builds. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customer Support, and external manufacturing partners. Act as the primary escalation point for supplier-related manufacturing, quality, and delivery issues. Align manufacturing execution with engineering intent, customer requirements, and business priorities. Provide technical and operational support to contract manufacturers during NPI, production ramp, and sustaining production. 5. Risk, Cost, and Continuous Improvement Identify and mitigate manufacturing, supplier, quality, and supply chain risks proactively. Support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality, reliability, and compliance requirements. Drive continuous improvement across suppliers and internal manufacturing support processes. Improve manufacturing yield, production efficiency, documentation quality, and supplier execution discipline. RequirementsMust-Have Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) 5+ years of experience in electronic manufacturing environments Strong background in quality engineering and/or process engineering Supplier Process & Manufacturing Knowledge Experience qualifying manufacturing processes in at least two of the following: PCB assembly / electronics manufacturing Plastic injection molding or fabrication Metal fabrication or mechanical manufacturing Configuration & Change Management Hands-on experience managing: Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) Revision control and BOM management Systems Experience Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems Experience with ERP systems (MS Business Central, Dynamics, or similar preferred) Nice to Have Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience High-mix, low-volume production experience NPI and product ramp-up experience in hardware environments What We Offer Fast-paced and innovative clean-tech environment Opportunity to work on breakthrough smart lighting technology Health benefits RRSP matching Annual salary range: $100,000 – $125,000 CAD Diversity & Compliance We value diversity and encourage applications from all qualified candidates.
