What this job involves: We're seeking an accomplished payroll professional to join the Canadian team as Payroll Supervisor, reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager. In this role, you will drive compliance excellence, and implement process improvements. You'll work with cutting-edge HRIS technology, mentor team members, and directly impact the employee experience for JLL professionals across Canada. This role is ideal for a seasoned payroll professional who thrives on solving complex challenges and wants to leverage their expertise within a global organization. This role is in office 3 days/week and has flexibility to work remotely 2 days/week. What your day-to-day will look like: * Payroll Operations Leadership: Lead accurate, timely multi-provincial payroll processing across all Canadian provinces and territories, ensuring complete compliance with CPP, EI, and federal/provincial tax withholdings. Oversee the full payroll lifecycle including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and complex off-cycle payments. Present training to small and large groups of managers and employees for time card entry. * Compliance Excellence: Maintain expert-level knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation including Employment Standards, CRA requirements, and Quebec-specific regulations (QPP, QPIP, CNESST). Prepare and submit critical government filings including T4/T4A statements, ROEs, EHT returns, and WSIB reporting. Lead audit preparations and identify compliance risks proactively. * Technology Leadership: Serve as the payroll system subject matter expert, driving automation, streamlining workflows, and championing best practices. Lead system upgrades, integrations, and implementations in partnership with HR, Finance, and IT teams. * Strategic Partnership: Handle complex escalated inquiries while maintaining strict confidentiality. Partner with senior HR and Finance leadership on compensation strategy, budgeting, and workforce planning. Generate sophisticated analytics for executive review including cost analysis, variance explanations, and trend forecasting. * Team Leadership: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to payroll staff, locally and offshore. Review work for accuracy, offer constructive feedback, and build team capability through documentation and knowledge sharing. Required Qualifications: * Experience: 7+ years of progressive Canadian payroll experience with demonstrated multi-provincial expertise, including complex scenario resolution and Quebec's distinct system. * Certification: PLP certification required. * Technical Mastery: Expert-level understanding of Canadian federal/provincial employment legislation, payroll regulations, and tax compliance. Experience interpreting complex legislation and applying it to unique situations. * Systems Expertise: Strong experience with enterprise payroll systems (Workday, ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce). Proven ability to configure systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize functionality. * Advanced Analytics: Expert Excel skills including pivot tables and advanced formulas. Experience with reporting tools and business intelligence platforms is a plus. * Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and influence stakeholders. Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts to non-payroll audiences. * Professional Excellence: Exceptional attention to detail with superior organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining absolute discretion with confidential information. Preferred Qualifications: * CPM designation * Equity/international assignment payroll knowledge * Bilingual English/French proficiency * Professional services industry background Estimated compensation for this position: 85,000.00 – 100,000.00 CAD per year This range represents the estimated base salary and actual compensation may differ. Final base salary is determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations. Some roles and employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, benefits, or other compensation.
