The Health Products Stewardship Association (HPSA) is a non-profit producer responsibility organization (PRO) founded by trade associations of consumer health product manufacturers to promote safe and environmentally responsible disposal of health products in Canada. HPSA was established in response to regulations and develops and administers Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs for consumer health products in Canada on behalf of its members.
HPSA operates free take-back programs for members of the public for unwanted medications and used medical sharps in the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Role Description
The Senior Associate, Marketing will play a key role in executing HPSA’s Communication Strategy to increase awareness of initiatives, programs, and events. Working under the direction of the Manager, Communication & Marketing, the Senior Associate will focus on developing and implementing high-quality visual storytelling and assets, event promotion, digital content and campaigns. The successful candidate will ensure that all materials align with HPSA’s brand and strategic objectives.
Qualifications
End to End Campaign Management
- Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of multi-channel campaigns (email, digital, social, paid media) to drive brand engagement.
- Monitor campaign KPIs, analyze data and report insight internally.
Digital Strategy:
- Lead day-to-day social media content creation (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) to engage stakeholders and strengthen HPSA’s online presence.
- Oversee paid social media campaigns and optimize content for reach, performance, and engagement.
Events and Conferences
- Identifies, plans, and measures conference attendance to increase HPSA’s visibility
- Identify sponsorship and partnership opportunities with external stakeholders
Design & Creative Content:
- Review, guide, and elevate creative design outputs across print and digital platforms—including brochures, reports, infographics, social media, newsletters, presentations, and campaign materials—ensuring quality, consistency, and strategic alignment.
- Lead creative ideation and concept development for campaigns and initiatives, contributing original ideas, visual directions, and storytelling approaches that support HPSA’s goals.
- Provide creative direction and feedback to internal teams and external partners, refining layouts, visual systems, and messaging to strengthen impact while maintaining brand integrity.
- Assess and enhance visual quality through informed guidance on photography, illustration, and multimedia treatments, recommending improvements rather than executing all assets directly.
- Ensure creative assets are strategically adapted for multi‑platform use (print, web, social media), reviewing formats and variations to maximize reach and effectiveness.
Website Content Management :
- Maintain and update HPSA websites using WordPress, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and accessible.
- Employ innovative, data-driven tactics to increase the company's reach and visibility with the public, including, but not limited to, search engine optimization and Google ads.
Other Responsibilities:
- Support the drafting of press releases, newsletters, blog posts, internal communications, and other written materials aligned with organizational goals.
- Work closely with the team to produce annual reports, fact sheets, and other informational resources for stakeholders and the public.
- Support administrative communications tasks, such as managing content calendars, media tracking, and reporting .
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, or related fields, with a strong portfolio in graphic design.
- Experience with paid digital campaigns is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and other design tools.
- Strong experience with WordPress and website content management.
- Knowledge of social media strategy, paid campaigns, and analytics.
- Experience in event planning, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
Additional Competences and skills:
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
- Advanced Excel skills for report analysis and proficiency in advanced CRM platforms.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a focus on customer needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, vision, and enthusiasm in leading initiatives and setting high standards.

Health Products Stewardship Association (HPSA) is a not-for-profit association that is committed to the safe management and responsible disposal of unwanted medications and used medical sharps through its Medications Return and Sharps Collection programs.
HPSA's VISION is to be the national steward for environmental waste management programs of post-consumer health products;
MANDATE is to manage the public’s health products in a cost-efficient and environmentally acceptable manner; and,
the OBJECTIVE of both the Medications Return and Sharps Collection programs is to divert unused and expired health products from landfills and sewers, as well as to ensure safe and effective collection and disposal.
Medications Return Program: Health Products Stewardship Association's Medications Return Program (MRP) offers a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted medications that can be found in the home. Through registered pharmacies, residents of each participating province are offered easy accessibility to drop-off locations where they can safely dispose of all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications (in oral dosage form) and natural health products (in oral dosage form). The MRP currently services the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario ,NB and Prince Edward Island.

Sharps Collections Program:
Health Products Stewardship Association's Sharps Collection Program (SCP) offers a safe and easy solution to the end-of-life management of medical sharps devices. Patients who use sharps products are issued a container through their participating pharmacy to be returned to and replaced by a pharmacist.
The Sharps Collection Program currently services the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba , New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
