Are you interested in a rewarding career supporting students in public schools? This position reports to the supervisor of Transportation and assists the Bus Driver in loading, unloading, supervising and monitoring students with special needs. Once hired, a casual employee can view all internal postings for Term and Continuing positions and has the contractual right to post into vacancies to secure more consistent and/or guaranteed hours.
POSTING DETAILS
- **Position – **Bus Monitor
- Start Date - As soon as possible (flexible)
- **Schedule - **Casual / On Call As Needed (shifts vary - before school, after school, and/or during special field trips)
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES **
- Supervises and monitors students with special needs while enroute to school and home.
- Assists Bus Driver in loading, securing and unloading the students.
- Administers First Aid as required.
- Relays information between parents and teachers.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 10.
- First Aid Certificate (1 day Emergency First Aid with CPR or equivalent).
- Ability to interact with students in an effective manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively using tact and discretion in the explanation and clarification of information.
- Ability to use judgement in applying established methods and procedures.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties.
