Comms & Industry Engagement Coordinator

This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Communications & Industry Engagement Coordinator leads the centre’s communications, digital presence, stakeholder engagement, and industry outreach efforts.
This multifaceted role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, telling impactful stories, coordinating events, and managing digital channels. The successful candidate will help grow CUIIC’s network, attract sponsors and members, and raise the profile of our research and education programs through strong communication and marketing initiatives.

- Communications & Digital Marketing
- Develop and implement communication strategies to promote CUIIC’s programs, research, and events.
- Manage content for CUIIC’s website, social media (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter), and newsletters.
- Design marketing and promotional materials using tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or InDesign.
- Draft blog posts, event summaries, and other outreach content to engage industry and academic audiences.
- Industry Engagement & Membership Support
- Liaises with Engineering's Development team to coordinate relationship management when assisting in identifying and pursuing opportunities to grow CUIIC’s industry membership and sponsorship base.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with contractors, municipalities, consultants, suppliers, and utilities.
- Support sponsorship acquisition for CUIIC-hosted events and initiatives.
- Represent CUIIC at conferences, trade shows, and other industry networking events as needed.
- Event Coordination
- Support the planning and delivery of CUIIC events including workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Assist with communications, promotion, logistics, registration tracking, and post-event follow-up.
- Prepare sponsorship packages and outreach materials for potential partners.
- Administrative Support

Track membership and sponsorship agreements, including invoicing, renewals, and payment coordination.

Maintain organized records of engagement activities, industry contacts, and event participation.

Liaise with University of Alberta’s administrative and financial teams as required.

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field.

Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with a creative flair.

Experience with social media platforms, email marketing, and website content management.

Proficiency with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.

Prior experience in stakeholder engagement, sponsorship coordination, or outreach is an asset.

Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a small, dynamic team.

Interest in infrastructure, construction, or engineering sectors is an advantage.

Willingness to travel occasionally for events and industry engagement.
