About the role

Hours: The successful candidate will work on a rotating shift schedule that includes part weekends, some weekday evenings and statutory holidays.

Rate of Pay: $23.28- $28.05(Starting salary will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions)

This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd – Youth Services, Regina's Place.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of young mothers and their children living at Regina's Place
  • You will provide opportunities for young parents that can include a high school education program, child minding services, transition supports to independent living and supports in learning life & living skills (goal setting/advocacy/cooking, etc.), parenting skills, infant attachment and healthy child development.
  • Provide co-case management and community development skills to young parents
  • Act as a positive role model to young parents in the care of their infants, toddlers or preschoolers
  • Complete regular developmental screenings with the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ)
  • Positive and ongoing communication with team members and Community Partners
  • Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in social work/social services/child and youth services
  • Experience of primary case management and community development skills
  • Experience working with young mothers and children
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Act
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of working with youth homelessness and substance use/abuse
  • A proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and thinking creatively are required
  • Knowledge of infant & toddler development/milestones
  • Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
  • Good judgement, problem-solving and assessment skills
