About the opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Core Products, the Senior Manager, Audit & Accounting Products is responsible for delivering high-quality audit and accounting tools and resources. The Senior Manager will support and contribute to strategic planning and execution for CPA Canada’s flagship audit methodology product, the Professional Engagement Guide (PEG), and other assurance and financial reporting products. In this role, the Senior Manager will provide subject matter expertise, foster innovation, and work collaboratively across internal teams, external parties, and volunteer networks.

The Core Products team is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of CPA Canada products, resources, and initiatives to support CPAs in public practice. This team ensures that CPA Canada’s offerings remain relevant, high-quality, and aligned with member and customer needs, market trends, and evolving standards.

Areas of focus include:

  • Changes and developments in Canadian Auditing Standards and Other Assurance Standards, and the impact of such changes on audit & assurance practitioners in Canada and on CPA Canada products and support
  • Changes and developments in domestic accounting standards, including Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO), and the impact of such changes on Canadian interest and affected parties and on CPA Canada products and support
  • Changes and developments impacting public practice and the audit ecosystem more broadly, nationally and internationally, including technological advances and tools available to support more efficient and high-quality audits, and the impact of such developments on CPA Canada products and support

This hybrid role is national in scope and can be aligned to any of our CPA Canada offices or be fully remote within Canada.

The targeted annual salary range for this position is $127,661 to $145,930 and is commensurate with experience.

What you'll do

Technical Excellence & Product Delivery

  • Develop deep knowledge of the audit methodology and step-by-step guidance for practitioners’ use in CPA Canada’s PEG and Quality Management Guide.
  • Plan, create and deliver subject matter content to support small and medium practices (SMPs) in performing engagements in compliance with standards in the CPA Canada Handbook.
  • Engage with and manage volunteer committees, advisory groups, and subject matter experts to inform and enhance product development.
  • Provide best practices on products and services for practitioners on how to perform assurance and compilation engagements and how to solve practice management issues impacting SMP

Strategic Leadership & Product Oversight

  • Work with the Core Products team to enhance current product offerings and create new ways of offering value to members/customers in public practice.
  • Monitor trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to ensure CPA Canada remains at the forefront in reporting and assurance.
  • Ensure products are aligned with CPA Canada’s strategic priorities and deliver measurable value to members and the profession.

External Engagement & Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external parties, including CPAs, CPA firms, standard setters, regulatory bodies, technology leaders, and other professional organizations and partners.
  • Through engaging with customers and users, understand practitioners’ challenges in various areas of their practice and their evolving needs including those related to continuing professional development.
  • Collaborate with other partners who have complementary interests within the product portfolio, including subject matter experts and technology providers.
  • Lead and manage volunteer advisory committees, including chairing and facilitating meetings.
  • Represent CPA Canada at industry events, conferences, and external meetings.
  • Work closely with others across the organization to integrate reporting and assurance resources with CPA Canada’s broader product portfolio.
  • In conjunction with the Core Products team, oversee all aspects of program design and execution, including:
    • Working closely with program developers such as subject matter experts and interactive e-learning specialists;
    • Working closely with sales and marketing teams to ensure best possible reach and commercial success of products;
    • Working closely with program managers to ensure programs are executed in a timely, professional and cost-effective way.

Operational Management

  • Oversee program planning, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for assigned projects.
  • Ensure operational processes are efficient, scalable, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.

Quality & Innovation

  • Champion innovation in product formats, delivery methods, and content strategies.
  • Maintain high quality standards through continuous evaluation and improvement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with CPA Canada’s governance, branding, and professional standards in all outputs.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree and a CPA certification or designation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public practice (audit and/or assurance), internal audit, and/or financial accounting
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards and Other Assurance Standards and the key concepts underlying these standards
  • Knowledge of domestic and international accounting standards (ASPE, ASNPO, and IFRS)
  • Keen interest and awareness of recent and emerging trends in the accounting profession
  • Accounting product or content development in a professional or academic setting is an asset
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the development of professional education programs is an asset
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with use of AI in the audit is an asset

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to interpret complex standards and translate into practical guidance
  • Ability to translate complex messages and recommendations into concise proposals, reports and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain a productive relationship with internal and external partners
  • Ability to work independently and to respond quickly to changing demands and new issues
  • High level of professional integrity and commitment to the public interest
  • Bilingualism is an asset
