The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.

Job Information

The Regional Manager, Income Security Programs oversees the effective and compliant delivery of Income Security Programs to 5 communities in the South Slave Region, ensuring services are administered consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with legislation, policy, and guidelines. You will provide leadership, direction and supervision to 5 community-based Client Navigators, to ensure that programs and services are delivered in a consistent and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation of management responses on compliance audits.
  • Ensures client assessment requirements are met and client information is verified.
  • Monitors, identifies and investigates possible overpayments and initiates recovery actions, fraud investigations and conducts individual review of files.
  • Provides mentorship, support and care for Navigators who operate in highly personal, volatile and stressful situations.
  • Assists Regional Superintendent to maintain good lines of communication with client groups and stakeholders thus ensuring informed, prompt and timely responses to opportunities and issues that may arise.

Key Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and three (3) years of directly related experience in the implementation and delivery of Income Security Related Programs, and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License is a mandatory requirement.
  • The incumbent must be able to successfully complete the Income Security Statutory Training and CMAS Training within an established timeframe (1-3 months).

Relevant discipline includes: Public Administration, Social Work, Economics, Business (Commerce, Human Resources, Management), Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, Community Development, and Indigenous Studies.
