Position Summary
The ICE–G Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training to students pursuing TSSA-recognized certification in the Industrial Gas “G” category. This role requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to teach both theoretical and hands-on skills in accordance with CSA B109.1-21 and TSSA Code Adoption requirements.
Responsibilities

Deliver classroom, shop, and lab instruction on industrial gas fundamentals, safe operating practices, combustion theory, appliance components, troubleshooting, and diagnostic procedures.

Teach and demonstrate the proper use of testing instruments—including manometers, leak-testing equipment, and combustion analyzers—ensuring full compliance with TSSA regulations and CSA B109.1-21.

Prepare students for the TSSA ICE–G examination through structured lessons, knowledge checks, demonstrations, and guided hands-on practice.

Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment with strict adherence to safety protocols.

Assess student learning through quizzes, practical evaluations, and review sessions, providing clear and supportive feedback.

Ensure all instructional materials, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and used according to Centennial College and TSSA safety policies.

Complete required documentation such as attendance records, exam envelopes, and TSSA reporting.

Work collaboratively with program staff to ensure course content remains aligned with the most current version of CSA B109.1-21 and TSSA Code Adoption Documents.
Qualifications/Experience
-
Valid TSSA ICE–G Certificate in good standing.

Minimum five (5) years of industry experience working with industrial propane and/or natural gas systems.

Strong, up-to-date knowledge of CSA B109.1-21, TSSA regulations, and industry safety standards.

Excellent communication and instructional skills, with the ability to support learners of varying technical backgrounds.

Ability to demonstrate and supervise safe operation of industrial gas tools, analyzers, and equipment.

Previous teaching, training, or apprenticeship-supervision experience is preferred.

Experience performing industrial propane/natural gas diagnostics, maintenance, and CO/CO2 testing. (Preferred)

Familiarity with TSSA exam processes and certification pathways is preferred.
