About the role

The Heavy Equipment Technician will specialize in mobile cranes, this position will be responsible for the safe and efficient repair and maintenance of heavy equipment both on-site and at customer locations. This includes diagnosing electro-mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all repairs meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs, provide technical support, and ensure equipment is operating at peak performance. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various climates and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, inspect and diagnose Liebherr machinery and components including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, engines, gearbox/drive train, etc. to resolve moderate to complex problems
  • Perform new and used machinery preparation, scheduled maintenance, repair or overhaul usually requiring component replacement, commissioning and adjustment of mechanical/hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic equipment, including warranty upgrades
  • Recondition and repair equipment components and systems as assigned
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections of equipment and new & used equipment preparation
  • Occasionally perform servicing on Liebherr machinery as directed, including fluid checks, and sample pulling, oil and filter checks, changing lubricants, replacing filters, greasing machine lube points etc.
  • Ensure components, material and/or equipment is inspected, is corrected to specifications and ensure timely delivery programs are achieved
  • Ensure all final verifications specified in work instructions, scope of work, verbal communication and specifications are carried out and complete
  • Accurate and timely submission of reports and technical document including service reports
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment and work areas in accordance with company policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies

  • At least 5 years of field technician experience with heavy equipment with both maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience with maintaining and repairing cranes will be considered an asset.
  • Red Seal/Journeyman license or provincial equivalent required.
  • Valid drivers license is required.
  • Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends or on call duty.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings.
  • Technical Expertise: Expertly applies comprehensive knowledge of crane systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components, to ensure reliable equipment performance.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, component exchange, repair and warranty related activities. Ability to effectively communicate detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner.
