Your Contribution:

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work in close collaboration with the Structural Engineering team in our Ottawa office.

Your main responsibilities

  • Participate in structural site investigations, inspections and reviews; collect field data and assist with the preparation of technical reports, inspection reports and compliance letters;
  • Assist in the assessment and documentation of existing structural conditions through structural condition assessments and engineering studies;
  • Support engineering calculations, analysis and design of structural elements including concrete, steel, masonry and wood, under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers;
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of project deliverables, including technical reports, drawings and specifications;
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Support the Engineering team to meet project objectives related to scope, schedule and budget;
  • Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety policies at all times.

Your Profile:

What makes you unique

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural option) or Structural Engineering from an accredited university (new graduates encouraged to apply);
  • Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with PEO (asset);
  • Academic or co‑op experience in structural engineering or construction (asset);
  • Foundational knowledge of:
    • Structural analysis and design principles (steel, concrete, wood, masonry);
    • National Building Code of Canada and Ontario Building Code (asset);
  • Exposure to structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, SAFI, etc.);
  • Interest in site reviews and field investigations;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English required (French considered an asset);
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team environment;
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance;
  • Valid driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel throughout Ontario, as required.
