Reporting to the Manager, Administration & Finance, or designate, the Administrative Support Clerk provides front-line customer service to OSCC 55+ participants, external agencies, and the public. The position also provides administrative support and assists with volunteer programs, membership activities, fundraising initiatives, and general communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line customer service by assisting participants and responding to inquiries from the public and external agencies
  • Complete program registrations and process point-of-sale transactions accurately
  • Perform general administrative duties, including filing, document preparation, and photocopying
  • Support volunteer programs by maintaining volunteer records and assisting with the coordination of activities
  • Assist with outreach activities and community displays to promote programs and services and support membership growth
  • Assist with the preparation of communications and promotional materials to support programs, events, and initiatives
  • Support membership activities, fundraising efforts, and other community engagement initiatives
  • Provide administrative support to the volunteer and community relations team as required
  • Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa’s core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Completion or enrollment in a post-secondary program in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to respond to inquiries in a professional manner
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Meet the eligibility requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs program:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
    • Please note, international students are not eligible participants
