Team Overview:
The Partnerships group’s mission is to develop and nurture partnerships to spark international trade for Canada. We accomplish this by fostering key Canadian-based partnerships and international trade ecosystems to grow exporting opportunities for Canadian companies and make a difference for Canada.
The Regional Partnerships team is looking for a Partnerships Senior Manager to join our Regional Partnerships team in British Columbia. Reporting to the Director, Regional Partnerships, you are responsible for managing EDC’s key strategic partnerships within the B.C. region. These partnerships will involve a mix of both national and regional partnerships that are well-aligned with EDC’s value proposition to support the development and growth of international trade for Canada.
Given EDC is a financial service crown and Canada’s Export Credit Agency, your portfolio of partnerships will be a mix of Canadian financial institutions, financial crown corporations, and key government departments (Federal & Provincial) focused on international trade, prioritized based on the Partner’s regional impact and alignment with EDC’s value proposition and Corporate Strategy. You will work closely with several internal stakeholders including business development, credit risk, and other teams within the Partnership group to deepen EDC’s key partnerships and capitalize on untapped opportunity within your Region. Recognized for your abilities to prioritize and execute on key partnership strategies, develop long-term and sustainable relationships, you’ll be a key player in EDC’s role to develop mutually important partnerships that enable better awareness, support and growth of international trade for Canadian companies.
What you will be doing:
- Supports the development and execution of the Region Partnership Plan to ensure full market coverage, integrated with relevant sector and country strategies.
- Manage key relationships within relevant partnerships and continue to nurture prioritized partner relationships to drive corporate results and Regional Partnership Plan objectives
- Nurtures and strengthens senior‑level relationships within key Partnerships—including Partner Business Development (BD) and Credit Region Heads—to advance EDC literacy, awareness, and collaboration.
- Prepares and facilitates engagement sessions to different audience types within these key Partnerships to increase the awareness, understanding and importance of the collective partnership.
- Proactively seeks and documents partner feedback to collaborate with Partnership Regional Director to bring voice of the partner (VOP) trends forward and identify short- and long-term action plans.
- Gathers, and supports the sharing of Regional Market Intelligence from interactions and conversations with partners to feed EDC’s product innovation continuum and ensure partner needs are considered.
- Collaborates with key internal stakeholders, from BD, Product, and Risk teams from a subject matter expertise to meet deliverables of Regional Partnership Plan.
- Serves as EDC subject matter expert to the partner and works to resolve issues in a positive and professional manner.
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate Degree in International Business, Commerce or other relevant discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of business development experience and commercial lending experience in international business, financial services, or partner relationship management
- Business Development experience (e.g. takes initiative, growth and results oriented)
- An established network in the B.C. Region relevant to EDC’s mandate
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), influencing and analytical skills
- Collaboration experience with both internal and external stakeholders to execute on a collective strategy
- Strong understanding of EDC’s lines of business and mandate
What will make you stand out:
- Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation
- Knowledge of financial institution credit and lending practices
- Knowledge of international business practices and international trade
- Business development experience to drive partnership deliverables
- Experience in managing strategic partnerships with business result deliverables
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
