About the role

The Biologics Manufacturing Center (BMC) Inc. is a new biomanufacturing facility created in response to the pandemic. A not-for-profit organization, the BMC aims to better meet the biopharmaceutical needs of Canadians. The BMC helps support projects of public interest, actively contributes to the overall growth and resilience of the Canadian life sciences industry and fosters industry development and innovation through Canadian production.  Backed by a committed and innovative team of employees, the BMC fosters a culture of agility and transparency, with a collaborative, result-oriented approach.

We are looking for an Analyst, Quality Control, who will contribute to internal projects and external analytical services through method verification and analyses. This is a one-year temporary assignment to cover a maternity leave.

The Quality Control Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in method transfers, verifications, and validations for both finished products and raw materials.

  • Perform analyses using HPLC, ELISA, and physical testing of proteins, products (in-process, intermediates, finished), and raw materials.

  • Interpret data and prepare reports.

  • Participate in investigations related to non-conformities (out-of-specification or out-of-trend results).

  • Participate in water analyses (TOC and conductivity).

  • Contribute to the maintenance, upkeep, and calibration of laboratory equipment.

  • Participate in the drafting and review of quality control–related documentation.

  • Contribute to the management of laboratory inventory (reagents, consumables) and order new items as required.

  • Contribute to health and safety within the laboratory by identifying risks and adopting appropriate work methods, particularly when handling chemicals or materials presenting a biological hazard.

  • You hold at least a college diploma in chemistry or biochemistry.

  • You have at least two (2) years of hands-on experience with HPLC and ELISA techniques.

  • You have practical experience working in a GMP environment.

  • You have a strong interest in method validation and verification.

  • You are proficient with the following instruments: GC, pH meter, UV and fluorescence spectrophotometer.

  • You are able to communicate in French with other team members.

The BMC is a new facility in the heart of Montreal, completed in June 2021. It supports the growth of the country's biologics production capacity, ensuring that vaccines and other related products can be manufactured safely, right here at home. Thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities and the knowledge of its team, the BMC can produce biopharmaceutical products such as viral vector, protein subunit and virus-like particle vaccines, as well as other biological products. It is a key player in Canada's ability to respond rapidly to future national and global health emergencies.
