About CanmetENERGY Research Centres
CanmetENERGY is Natural Resources Canada’s largest clean energy research centre. With three locations – Devon (Alberta), Ottawa (Ontario), and Varennes (Quebec) – our scientific teams develop and implement technological solutions to support the transition to a cleaner, more efficient, and net-zero energy future.
In Devon, research focuses on reducing the carbon intensity of hydrocarbons and minimizing their environmental impacts on land, water, and greenhouse gas emissions.
In Ottawa, work spans a wide range of clean energy technologies, from improving existing systems to developing innovative solutions that enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions.
In Varennes, efforts target the decarbonization of buildings and industry, and the integration of renewable energy.
Together, CanmetENERGY’s three centres combine their expertise to drive innovation and support Canada’s net-zero goals.
