Position: Junior to Intermediate Project Specialist
Service Sector: Building Science Engineering
Location: Head Office in Mississauga
Start Date: Immediately
OHE Consultants is seeking to hire a junior or intermediate Project Specialist in the area of Building Science Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting to maintain effective communication and interacting with clients, contractors and OHE employees involved in the projects.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering or Technology program from accredited university or college;
- Registered or eligible for registration as an EIT or associate member of OACETT;
- Experience and knowledge of major building systems and building construction;
- Minimum 2 to 5 years in the area of Building Science Engineering;
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Schedule);
Skills/Requirements:
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license;
- Ability to attain police and other agency security clearance checks (CPIC, VSS, Reliability);
- Demonstrates a passion in building science investigations, correct detailing in construction and helping building owners durably correct their building performance issues;
- Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally;
- A team player with excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills;
- Inquisitive, clear thinker who can determine what work is required and who can draw rational conclusions from information available;
- Able to conceptualize in three dimensions;
- Strong at multi-tasking, time management and adaptable to shifting priorities;
- Must be comfortable with ladder accessing roofs (< 10m) working safely at heights; and
- Ability to quickly mobilize and travel mainly within Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing bid documents including specifications, scope of work, details and drawings;
- Coordinate and assist project manager with building science projects;
- Assist in preparing whole building property condition assessments for transactional due diligence following ASTM Standard Guide E 2018-24 and financial studies/life cycle costing for capital planning;
- Assist in preparing reserve fund studies and performance audits for condominiums;
- Draft reports prior to submitting for project manager review;
- Coordinate with other environmental, engineering and architectural disciplines;
- Assist in performing contract administration/construction review tasks;
- Support existing client relationships;
- Prepare proposals and maintain project file documentation;
- Promote and advance OHE’s professional services by participating in training, supported by an ongoing mentoring program which focuses on skills development and employee engagement and facilitated by continuing job/project specific feedback intended to encourage continuous improvement;
The candidate must show an ability to work within a client oriented and fast-paced environment. Required skills include flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving ability, excellent computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task as well as the ability to meet tight timelines.
