About the role
POSITION: Maintenance - Leadhand Electrician - temporary SITE: Maintenance HOURS: 40 hrs/wk JOB COMMENCES: ASAP to June 26, 2026 or earlier, depending on the return of the incumbent WAGE: AS PER UNION AGREEMENT Summary The Lead-Hand works in conjunction with the Manager of Operations and Assistant Manager of Operations to assess, prioritize work requisitions and workloads to ensure that jobs are done to the required specifications in a collaborative and supportive manner. The Lead-Hand will possess a high level of communication and leadership skills in order to promote excellent client service for the Quesnel School District
Typical Duties And Responsibilities In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a tradesperson, the Lead-Hand will:
- Be responsible for sourcing and ordering supplies with approval by the Manager of Operations or Assistant Manager of Operations
- Inspects all jobs and ensure they are done to specification
- In conjunction with the Manager of Operations or Assistant Manager of Operations, assess and prioritize work requisitions and workloads
- Is a liaison with schools and suppliers
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Report any issues to Manager of Operations or Assistant Manager of Operations
- Work and communicate with other trades on projects and day to day
Required Knowledge, Education, Ability And Skills
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Certification (BCTQ)
- Valid Class 5 BC driver's license
- Current experience and skill in the electrical trade
- Knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of fire and security systems, multi-zone heating systems and air-conditioning
- Competent in all phases of installations, maintenance and repair
- Ability to price and order parts and supplies
- An ability to work alone or as a team player including with other trades
- Experience in the following areas will be considered an asset: repair of small equipment, LAN wiring, computer literate, DDC, phone systems, PA and sound system
- Medically fit to carry out the responsibilities of the position
Lead-Hand
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Must be experienced and skilled Red Seal
- Must be knowledgeable and experienced in maintenance, phone systems, fire and intruder alarm systems
- Must be current in all phases of electrical installations
- Must hold the district annual electrical permit

The starting hourly rate of pay for this Leadhand Electrician position is $39.22 per hour.
