STRAND IS LOOKING FOR A MANAGER, FINANCE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enthusiasm and genuine passion for Real Estate and Real Estate Finance;

  • A minimum experience of 4-6 years in real estate finance, development, investment banking, private equity, or commercial real estate lending (Experience with a real estate development group strongly preferred);

  • A professional designation (CPA, CFA), or actively working towards one, is an asset;

  • A strong commitment to producing accurate and comprehensive work product;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment;

  • A collaborative team player with strong verbal and written communication skills combined with a strategic thinking capability;

  • Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills;

  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment;

  • Natural curiosity to delve into the details and challenge conventional approaches;

  • Highly self-motivated underpinned by a strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail;

  • Driven to contribute significantly and excel in a culture of excellence;

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite) with a strong working knowledge of Excel; and

  • Understanding of Accounting Principles is an asset.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager, Finance will report to the Vice President of Finance and be responsible for leading financial analyses, capital raising execution, and portfolio monitoring activities across Strand’s portfolio. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and assist the execution of debt and equity raises across Strand’s portfolio, including development loans, equity raises, and refinancings;

  • Develop or oversee the preparation of comprehensive financial models to help make informed strategic decisions on potential and ongoing development projects;

  • Underwrite new acquisition and development opportunities, building proformas, waterfalls, and sensitivity analyses, and presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership;

  • Prepare and deliver key materials for capital raises, including financing requests and investment memorandums;

  • Review and provide commercial input on transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, LP Agreements, loan agreements, and other deal documents;

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with lenders, equity partners, brokers, and external counsel, acting as a point of contact on live deals;

  • Monitor the financial performance of Strand’s existing portfolio, including tracking actuals against projections, analyzing budget variances, and reforecasting project returns;

  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for limited partners and lenders, responding to ad-hoc inquiries;

  • Monitor capital markets conditions and competitor activity, translating insights into actionable recommendations;

  • Partner cross-functionally with Development, Construction, and Operations teams; and

  • Establish and continuously improve processes, including financial modeling standards and internal workflows.
