About the role
The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) is a Crown corporation responsible for overseeing the Canadian federal interests in four international bridge crossings between Canada and the United States. Its mandate is to provide the highest level of stewardship so that the international bridges and associated structures are safe and efficient for users. FBCL owns, manages and operates international bridges and associated structures in Sault Ste. Marie, Point Edward, Lansdowne (Thousand Islands) and Cornwall, Ontario.
The Federal Bridge Corporation is seeking a pro-active human resource (HR) specialist who is energized providing human resource support in recruitment, onboarding, leaves, benefits and pension and labour relations. If you have prior experience in providing HR program leadership, due diligence and HR business partnering we want to hear from you!
Reporting into the Director, Human Resources the Human Resource Advisor is responsible for:
- Effective leadership and continuous improvement of talent sourcing, recruitment and onboarding, summer student recruitment, job descriptions, benefits and pension administration, leaves, absences, injuries and return to work, end of employment and, processes, and practices;
- Build effective working relationships with employees and people leaders, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR programs, policies, procedures and collective agreements;
- Provide human resource excellence and innovation, deploying best practice strategies, investing in our employees and enhancing the employee experience;
- Foster positive labour relations while providing advice to employees on the interpretation of policies and procedures;
- Draft and review employee correspondence, job descriptions, forms, procedures and reports;
- Take independent action to triage requests and determine the course of action; and,
- Utilization of the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience business partnering in Human Resources;
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader;
- Demonstrated ability to act as an advisor, influence outcomes and build relationships across the organization;
- Ability to understand and evaluate business requirements and adapt human resource services to meet the needs of the organization;
- Experience providing Human Resources support in a unionized environment preferred;
- Sound understanding and interpretation of laws, legislation, policies, procedures and other related HR documents (i.e. Collective Agreements);
- Experience working with a Human Resources Management System and proficient in the use of Microsoft products;
- Efficient problem solving, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Demonstrated confidential professional and inquisitive liaison who pays attention to the details;
- Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability security clearance; and,
- Bilingualism (English/French), CCC level.
The successful candidate will work from FBCL head office in Ottawa, ON, or from the Bluewater Bridge location in Point Edward, ON.
This is an up to 12-18 month contract position.
