About the role
_ COOKS (CASUAL ON-CALL)_
Coquitlam School District invites applications for on-call casual cooks. As the third largest school district in the province we are located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. The school district has a population of 34,000 students with approximately 4,400 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.
Casual cooks report to the Principal/designate and provides support to the supervising cook/culinary assistant or chef instructor. Duties include:
- Baking
- Preparing and serving hot and cold meals
- Cleaning of kitchen, cafeteria and dishes
- Operating cash register, kitchen equipment and dishwasher
- Monitoring and assisting in restocking and maintaining supply levels
- Balance, complete and report cash and sales\
- Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff and other facility users
- Gives direction to students who are assisting/working in the cafeteria
The successful applicant must have Grade 10 plus Food Safe Level 1, plus a basic food preparation course from a recognized Cook Training Program OR equivalent combination of training and experience.
For on-call cook positions, you must be available between the hours of 6:00am and 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, while school is in session.
We offer $27.01 per hour, plus 16% in lieu of benefits. We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis.
Successful candidates are subject to two criminal record checks to the employer’s satisfaction prior to confirmation of hiring.
