Head of Americas Architecture and CTO
Location: Toronto, ON
The Head of Americas Architecture and CTO provides enterprise-level technical leadership across multiple architecture disciplines, shaping strategy, planning, and design for large-scale, transformational technology initiatives. This role collaborates closely with senior business and technology leaders to define and execute the architectural direction that enables growth, resilience, and innovation across the Americas.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert architectural leadership to accelerate and empower delivery, product, and platform teams across the international organization.
- Enable consistent, high-quality delivery through clear guidance, standards, and documentation, including evolving enterprise requirements such as resiliency, security, and risk frameworks.
- Define and drive the technology strategy for the Americas, forging strong partnerships with executive leaders across business and technology functions.
- Act as steward of international architecture, ensuring alignment with the long-term growth agenda and enterprise strategy.
- Maximize value from enterprise and external technology platforms, tools, and practices.
- Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team of architects and senior technology specialists.
- Serve as an active general management leader on the IST–Americas Leadership Team.
- Develop authoritative, clear, and accessible architectural content that enables product teams and system integrators, including current- and future-state system and platform models.
- Build strong relationships with global and regional CTO peers to ensure evolving technology standards and platforms are incorporated into solution designs.
- Contribute to the broader international business agenda by addressing durable, complex challenges such as:
- High cost and risk associated with entering new countries
- Increasing security, fraud, and regulatory complexity
- Limited reuse across the international code base
- Operating effectively across diverse regulatory environments
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience, including at least 3 years in senior technology architecture roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; graduate degree preferred.
- Demonstrated success in technology strategy, large-scale transformation, and enterprise architecture.
- TOGAF certification or meaningful experience with enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Proven people leadership, influencing skills, and the ability to operate effectively at the executive level.
