About the role

We are hiring for this position out of our Vancouver and Toronto offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Quality Assurance oversees the Residential Mortgage Quality Assurance program at Peoples Group and leads a national team responsible for executing daily pre‑funding QA reviews across all offices. This role ensures consistent adherence to internal underwriting guidelines, as well as mortgage insurer and regulatory requirements. The Senior Manager provides senior‑level oversight through comprehensive reporting, audit facilitation, guideline governance, and expert advisory support to underwriting leadership on complex credit and policy matters, while driving continuous improvement in quality, risk management, and team performance.

About the day-to-day:

  • Oversee the Residential Mortgage Quality Assurance program at Peoples Group.
  • Lead and develop the team of Credit Quality Assurance Analysts across Peoples Group offices in the timely completion of daily pre-funding QA reviews to ensure adherence to Peoples Group’s policies and procedures, as well as mortgage loan insurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and anti-terrorist financing (ATF) requirements.
  • Produce monthly QA reports for distribution to internal credit managers and external investor partners; hold monthly meetings with all parties to review results, discuss trends or issues.
  • Contribute monthly results to, and present at, monthly Business Update and Credit Quality Assurance (CQAC) meetings.
  • Maintain the Residential Mortgage Underwriting Guidelines for Insured and Uninsured Mortgages. Prepare updates to Peoples Loan Program and Alternative Lending Guidelines that incorporate improvements, product changes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, mortgage loan insurers, and internal risk appetite.
  • Develop and maintain various documents such as procedures, fact sheets, and training material.
  • Facilitate Internal and external audits, as required.
  • Monitor and track performance and address issues, as well as create and maintain various reports to assist with managing the team’s daily workflow and individual staff performance.
  • Provide expert advice to Underwriting Managers regarding complex underwriting scenarios related to internal and/or mortgage loan insurance guideline interpretations.

About the qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in residential mortgage lending.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ people management experience in the finance industry.
  • Accredited Mortgage Professional of Canada designation is desirable.
  • Expert in writing loan program guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to review and interpret French-language documentation, particularly in the context of mortgage credit files and financial documents is desirable.
  • Solid leadership skills, focusing on mentoring and motivating an employee base of professionals.

About the work environment

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $110,000 and $125,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
