About the role

Accountabilities

  • Provide administrative support on all event initiatives, and ensure planning tasks are executed in alignment with the special events plan
  • Assist in event specific sponsorship planning in the event planning process
  • Administer event specific waivers and ensure a smooth registration process for all events
  • Oversee the budget process for each event and provide reports on event revenues upon completion
  • Coordinate all event volunteers and reward programs for support at key events
  • Ensure excellent media coverage and partnership visibility at all events and coordinate photography, video and post event communication
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Support the coordination and execution of all employee events.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous experience within the resort, recreation, hotel, or tourism industry
  • Previous experience working in event management
  • Proficiency and fluency with Microsoft Windows and Office programs
  • Post-secondary education (diploma, degree, certificate) in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field an asset
  • Knowledge of Wordpress and Social Media marketing an asset
  • Ability to learn new software programs
  • Expert ski or snowboard ability

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Mixed office and outdoor environment with standing, moderate lifting, skiing/riding and computer work required
  • May be exposed to severe weather conditions on resort (snow, cold, wind) and ability to access all locations on resort (including mid-mountain) required

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: $40,000-45,000/year, dependent on experience

Fernie Alpine Resort is also home to the New Aerial Park & Zipline Adventure Centre in the summer, while Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is home to Canada’s Largest Protected Grizzly Bear Habitat – home to Boo the Bear
