The** Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese ** (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. Our schools are located throughout the Greater Vancouver Area, near the best sites and attractions that Vancouver and British Columbia has to offer. Our Lady of Mercy Elementary is an exciting place to learn and grow for children Kindergarten to Grade 7. Our faith is the cornerstone of our school, and we aspire to create a community where families can experience Christ through the actions of teachers, support staff, and one another. Our staff is committed to providing a safe and challenging learning environment for all our students. To accomplish this goal, we depend on the continued support and cooperation of our parent and parish communities. At Our Lady of Mercy School, we believe that all people best learn and teach in an atmosphere of compassion, generosity, joy and laughter.
Our school is in the heart of the Lower Mainland in the city of Burnaby , nearly many parks and restaurants with cuisines from a variety of cultures. Our school is also very accessible to Vancouver, New Westminster, Surrey, and other surrounding cities with a myriad of great sites and attractions.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Lady of Mercy School in Burnaby is looking to add a primary teacher to our vibrant and welcoming staff. If you are looking to be part of a community and to empower, prepare and have a positive impact on our learners, and if you have a passion and a love for learning and discovery, and want to help students find their own passion, then OLM is the place for you. We believe in making a difference in our students’ lives by cultivating in them a love for their faith, for learning and for self-improvement.
There is no one person or group who can take credit for the success of our school. The staff at Our Lady of Mercy is energetic, hard-working and creative. They work together as a team and are constantly sharing and learning. Parents are actively involved and can be seen on the yard, in the classrooms, in the library and in the office. They stand behind all that we do and their support is invaluable. We have an outstanding pastor who plays an active role in school and in shaping the spiritual life of the students.
The classroom teacher is responsible for teaching the Ministry Curriculum and assessments. Music, PE, Tech, and French are taught by specialist. We have a wide array of extra-curricular activities, including, sports and fine arts. I look forward to having a discussion with the candidate on the gifts and talents he or she can bring to OLM.

All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.
